Secret Service of the Air Reviews

Seeking to capitalize on Reagan's new popularity after his appearance in BROTHER RAT, Warner Brothers bought the rights to the memoirs of former Secret Service chief William H. Moran, then threw away most of the facts to create a surprisingly well-done (and fairly outrageous) series of adventures starring Reagan as "Brass" Bancroft, Secret Service agent extraordinaire. This, the first in the series, opens with Reagan as a former Army pilot who, though now making a comfortable living as a commercial airline pilot, decides for reasons known only to himself to join the Secret Service for a life of danger. He is assigned to investigate a gang of evildoers suspected of smuggling illegal aliens into the US in airplanes. When in trouble, the rotten, cheap labor-runners easily dispose of their cargo by simply opening a hatch underneath the aliens and letting them drop. This angers Reagan, and his investigation leads to a thrilling fight with the villainous Stephenson in the cockpit of a plane, as it nosedives toward the earth. Reagan did his own stunts in the series because of his good health and a low budget that only allowed a double for the bad guys.
