A Coast Guard drama which features Brennan as a father rearing his own son, Jaeckel, as well as the orphaned Derek. Both boys enter the Coast Guard Academy to begin their training, but, after a boozing brawl over Hendrix, Derek gets the boot, and loses Jaeckel's friendship. Derek works his way back to the top rung, becoming a hero to both Hendrix and his foster dad, as well as reaffirming his friendship with Jaeckel. The film makes good use of location shooting in the North Atlantic as well as stock footage supplied by the Coast Guard.
