Hungarian goulash, with Gladys Swarthout and John Boles in a tuneful tale of singing ambitions and romantic mix-ups. John Barrymore, Claire Dodd, Fritz Feld, Curt Bois, Torben Meyer, Carlos de Valdez, Esther Muir. A wealth of good pop and classical music. H.C. Potter directed.

Swarthout stars as a Hungarian peasant girl who is stuck in the middle of a rivalry between tenor Boles and his manager, Barrymore. Both men are trying to prove their manliness to countess Dodd. Boles's plan is to turn Swarthout into a star ("the Persian Nightingale") so that Barrymore will be attracted to her. Boles will then be free to move in on Dodds, the girl he is really after. Swarthout warbled the following with her costars: "Bewitched By The Night" (Jay Gorney), "Tonight We Love" (Ralph Rainger, Leo Robin), "Blue Dawn" (Ned Washington, Phil Boutelje), "The Nearness Of You" (Washington, Hoagy Carmichael), "Romance In The Dark" (Sam Coslow, Gertrude Niesen).
