Riding on Air Reviews

Complicated plot features Brown as the editor of a small-town newspaper. He's in love with Rice, a local storekeeper's daughter, but her father (Briggs) doesn't approve of him. Brown is involved in a correspondence with a rival editor (Haworth), and the pair get mixed up with some smugglers and the invention of a radio beam. There's an aerial chase in small planes, one armed with a machine gun, and Brown parachutes to safety. Kibbee is featured as a stock swindler in one of the film's subplots. There's a lot going on in this film, which sometimes makes it confusing for the audience. The fast-paced direction glosses over this, though, and Brown carries the comedy well. RIDING ON AIR was based on a series of short stories from the Saturday Evening Post.
