Rhino! Reviews

Africa is the setting for this adventure yarn about an idealistic doctor, Culp, who wants to use a tranquilizer gun to capture a pair of rare white rhinos. He enlists the aid of big-game hunter Guardino, who has made an underhanded deal on the black market to deliver the animals. When Guardino takes off with Culp's equipment--and without his own irate girlfriend, Eaton--she gives Culp a hand in tracking down the culprit. A fight ensues, cleverly cut with shots of bewildered looks on the faces of the animals that seem to be questioning which species is more advanced. Guardino is bitten by a snake and experiences a radical change of heart when Culp saves his life. The two men become friends and devote themselves to animal research. A rather spotty script is given a lift by able direction, which takes full advantage of the actors' abilities and of the African background, and by excellent photography. The wild animals are especially well photographed. They almost seem part of the cast.
