Revenge of the Pink Panther Reviews

The fifth picture of the "Pink Panther" series, this wasn't as good as most of the others. It's a bit too unfocused, and the scenes shift to locations all over the world, like a comic version of a "James Bond" movie, but a good cast led by Sellers, under Edwards' direction, still provides plenty of laughs. Lom, who again is Sellers' boss, assigns the bumbling inspector to break Webber's narcotics ring. Cannon, Webber's mistress until he dumped her, becomes Sellers' aide and helps clear up the case. Cannon's character is "Simone Legree"--which should give you an inkling of the film's level of humor. A few other in-jokes will be found in the cast list, which includes characters named "Mr. Chow" and "Madame Wu," two high-line Chinese restaurants in southern California frequented by the movie set. Playing the role of a swarthy villain is the always reliable Paul Stewart, who died in Los Angeles in February 1986.
