Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm Reviews

Shirley Temple was 10 years old when this film was made, and her singing voice, never better, is aptly showcased in this highly contrived picture. Temple is staying at her aunt's farm after her uncle, William Demarest, gives up on trying to get the child a radio contract. Although the aunt doesn't want anything to do with show business, who should next-door neighbor Randolph Scott turn out to be but a talent scout. The film is all Temple and nothing but, with the little star even performing a medley of her earlier hit tunes such as "On the Good Ship Lollipop," "When I'm with You," and "Animal Crackers." Other songs include: "Crackly Corn Flakes," "Alone with You," "Happy Ending," "Au Revoir" (Sidney Mitchell, Lew Pollack), "An Old Straw Hat" (Mack Gordon, Harry Revel), and "Come and Get Your Happiness" (Jack Yellen, Samuel Pokrass). Temple and Robinson also dance to "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" (Mitchell, Pollack, Raymond Scott).
