Zavattini, famous for his part in the Italian Neo-Realist movement, scripted this sci-fi picture that takes place after an atom bomb explosion leaves only a handful of survivors. The story centers on a couple who were in the process of marrying when the bomb exploded. Cinematography and settings have a very realistic tone, giving the film an almost documentary flavor.
