Primal Scream Reviews

Set at the start of the 21st century, this utterly incomprehensible mishmash of science fiction/detective thriller opens with the successful test of Hellfire, an energy catalyst developed by the Thesaurus Corporation. Cut to a space station that is being attacked by rebels in protest over the existence of Hellfire--spaceships crashing, explosions thundering, men dying screaming. Back on Earth, the pair in charge of the rebels are murdered. Suddenly, the film shifts gears and follows two-bit private eye Corby McHale (Kenneth J. McGregor), hired by Caitlin Foster (Julie Miller), the sister of Thesaurus' chairman, who claims her brother is spying on her and ruining her life. What follows is a befuddling series of nasty murders (Hellfire turns its victims into smoking embers) as McGregor wanders around confused, getting beaten up, arrested, and occasionally laid. This is one of those films that may have made more sense on paper than it does on the screen. Not much of interest here for anybody.
