Suspenseful chiller has Bachelor as a homicidal maniac who murders her rich husband for the inheritance and so she can marry her playboy lover. She then kills her lover for fear he might talk, which then leads to two more murders. The daughter--by a prior marriage--of the first man she killed is on to Bachelor all the way. Smooth scripting helps to fill in the gaps in the story, which takes place almost entirely in a penthouse-apartment set. One of Republic Studio's surprisingly good, cheaply made sleepers, which had no names of any consequence to draw audiences, and was made on the quick with a single inexpensive generic set (which could be used again. The studio, which teetered on the edge of insolvency had some talent on its payroll, including cinematographer Marta and director English, who was best known for his work on the studio's serials. With William Witney, English codirected nearly half the total output of Republic's serials during its "Golden Age of Serials." This was one of English's rare ventures into solo direction of a feature film.
