Petticoat Pirates Reviews

A very silly and fairly sexist British comedy featuring Heywood as the commander of 150 WRENS (British equivalent of the WACS) who tries deperately to get the high command to allow women to serve on battleships. Her request is denied, so the impetuous Heywood and her crew invade a frigate containing a skeleton crew and pirate it. The women sail their way into an American/British practice maneuver (while using the deck for sunbathing on the way there) and prove themselves worthy of active service. Unfortunately a storm kicks up and the brave women just cannot seem to handle it without some men. If it was not for the reaffirmation of male dominance over women at the end (and the sunbathing), PETTICOAT PIRATES would have been a surprisingly progressive feminist testament to the strength and skill of women, but the filmmakers chickened out and gave the guys some reassurance.
