Parade of the West Reviews

Maynard, who also served as the film's producer, plays a daredevil rodeo rider. After a bad fall, he loses his nerve for the hard-riding life and returns to the medicine show where he started. He befriends a young boy who falls ill. This causes Maynard to once more mount the dreaded horse "Mankiller," which he does with great success. His fears are overcome, the boy recovers, and McConnell becomes the lady in his life. This is a poorly done western, padded with too much stock footage of rodeo trick-riding and roping. Maynard was capable of much better acting than this film indicates. A preponderance of old jokes haunts the film as well, dusted off from vaudeville and crammed into the early moments before giving way to the story's "drama."
