Operation St. Peter's Reviews

An inane caper farce with Buzzanca stealing Michelangelo's Pieta. The statue is worth $30 billion, but he has no one to sell it to. American gangster Robinson buys it for $40 and a spaghetti dinner. The Vatican doesn't want word to leak out that the statue has been stolen, so they send out their own priest to track down the thieves. Priests involved in a high-speed film chase are a rare sight, but they prove to be quite adept at it--understandable, since Ruhmann admits that he won the Indianapolis 500 as a youth. A very weak comedy. Robinson made several films in Europe during the mid-1960s, none of them particularly memorable, but this was surely one of the worst.
