A British comedy that contains few laughs. Mills is the new nurse in a country town in England, who replaces a floozy predecessor. She becomes the subject of nasty gossip but eventually makes friends with the local doctor, his son, and a shop owner. Mills, a bad driver, causes an accident with a rich farmer, who falls for her. Lewis wants to evict a young couple whose vehicle is on his property. They fight over it because Mills considers it unseemly to evict a woman near the end of her pregnancy. Mills delivers the child in the fields, and in the end, is supported by the townspeople and Lewis.
