Nocturna Reviews

Nai Bonet, a former belly dancer who traded in her navel diamond for some cheap plastic fangs, plays Nocturna, the granddaughter of the famous Count Dracula (John Carradine at an all-time low), in this horror comedy which she executive-produced. Tired of grandpa's outdated ways, Nocturna becomes involved with a disco musician (Tony Hamilton) and runs away to Manhattan where she enlists the support of one of Dracula's oldest lovers, Jugulia (Yvonne De Carlo), who is laid out in a crypt beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Dracula follows and puts a curse on all those involved, but Jugulia's got a soft spot for the crazy kids and she subverts Drac's authority. This incredibly cheap-looking and inept horror-comedy was made and released the same year as the similar--and much better--LOVE AT FIRST BITE. Fans of TV's "Late Night" will note the presence of Letterman regular Brother Theodore.
