Mr. Wong in Chinatown Reviews

Karloff returns for the third time as the Chinese detective Mr. Wong, investigating the death of a Chinese princess (Long) who was killed in Wong's house by a poisoned dart. Wong and police captain Street (Withers) are aided in their investigation by Street's reporter fiancee, Miss Bobby Logan (Reynolds). The trail leads to the princess' apartment, where they discover the body of her maid. The only witness to the crime is a mute Chinese dwarf (Rositto), who is later murdered. Just as Wong begins to close the net, he is kidnaped and held hostage on a ship and it is up to Street and Miss Logan to rescue him. A solid entry in the series, most notable for the introduction of Bobby Logan, a character who would appear in the next two films. Like MR. WONG, DETECTIVE before it, MR. WONG IN CHINATOWN would be remade as a Charlie Chan film, this one titled THE CHINESE RING (1947).
