Well-done musical starring Bennett in two roles--as Helen Hall, wife of songwriter Douglas Hall (Tone), and as her sister, Racquel. The sisters were once a singing duo, but they split up and Racquel went to France, where she became a star. As the film begins, Helen would like to resume her singing career, but Douglas objects. When Racquel visits from France, the sisters meet and hatch a plan by which Helen will pose as her sibling at various times. This allows Helen to reenter show business and provides a cover for Racquel to meet with her lover without arousing the suspicions of her husband. Eventually, the husband catches on and drags Racquel off while Helen goes on to become a star in her own right. Songs include: "The Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Coffee in the Morning, and Kisses at Night," and "Song of Surrender" (Al Dubin, Harry Warren). This was the first film for Westley, who went on to appear in numerous musicals during the 1930s and early 1940s.
