Manhattan Angel Reviews

Dull, predictable yarn has Jean as an advertising copywriter fighting to raise money to keep a factory from being built over a youth center on the Lower East Side. She has a face-off with the tightwad owner of the factory, and her own agency's chief account. Direction is slack and ill-paced, with varied performances. The high point is Jean's singing ability. Songs include: "I'll Take Romance" (Oscar Hammerstein II and Ben Oakland), "Candy Store Blues" (Nick Castle, Herb Jeffries, Eddie Beal), "Naughty Aloysius" (Robert Wilder), and "It's a Wonderful, Wonderful Feeling" (Jack Segal, Dewey Bergman).
