Making the Grade Reviews

Eddie Keaton (Judd Nelson), a tough street kid from New Jersey, is fleeing his bookie's thugs when he crosses a golf course and runs into Palmer Woodrow (Dana Olsen), a wealthy young man about to go unwillingly to a prep school in order to qualify for his trust fund. He wants to travel, though, so he offers Eddie $10,000 to take his place for the year. Eddie does well in his new environment, shedding the red polyester suit he arrives in for logo-type polo shirts, and quickly becomes the Big Man on Campus. Predictable complications arise and are handled in predictable ways, and much of the humor seems lifted out of successful teenage comedies of the last several years. Slightly better than most of its ilk, but still an insult to the intelligence.
