Starrett is a college professor who is fired because of his radical economic theories. The college administration tells Starrett that he can have his job back when he makes a million dollars using his wild theories. Brooks is one of his students who also doesn't buy the professor's ideas. By panhandling and pulling a nationwide scam, Starrett becomes a multimillionare and wins Brooks.
