Let's Scare Jessica to Death Reviews

Jessica (Zohra Lampert) is released from a mental hospital and moves to a farmhouse in Connecticut with her husband Duncan (Barton Heyman) and family friend Woody (Kevin O'Connor). A strange woman named Emily (Mariclare Costello) is found at their house, and Jessica discovers that she's a vampire. There are also ghosts, apparitions and some living dead parading around town, but, since no one believes her stories, Jessica begins to think she's having another breakdown. This was the feature debut of director John Hancock (who would go on to BANG THE DRUM SLOWLY and WEEDS), and he does a fairly effective job of pulling good shocks out of this somewhat familiar material. The script doesn't help his cause: it's badly underdeveloped and contains some confusing inconsistencies. Lampert turns in a memorable performance as the put-upon Jessica, but the rest of the cast is rather bland.
