Laughter in Paradise Reviews

Keen pacing and a fresh, witty script are two of the factors that helped this amusing British comedy become that country's top moneymaker in 1951. A practical joker leaves $140,000 to each of four relatives with the condition that they must follow specific instructions. Compton, his sister, has the tables turned on her; instead of bossing maids around, she must become a maid herself for 28 days. Likewise, cousin Sim, who writes trashy crime novels, must spend that many days in prison to receive his share. Cole, a meek bank clerk, has to perform a daring robbery of his bank. The last to be included is Middleton, who must put aside his playboy habits and marry the first girl he meets. Audrey Hepburn appears in a minor role as a cigarette girl.
