Last Stagecoach West Reviews

A late western from fading Republic Studios, THE LAST STAGECOACH WEST is not all that different from any of their productions in the 1940s. Jory and daughter Castle operate a mail stagecoach that is competing with the new railroad mail service. Davis is a railway detective who must prevent numerous saboteurs from bringing the new system to a halt. It turns out that Jory is behind the nefarious doings, leaving heartbroken Castle to be consoled in Davis' arms. The plot is not much, but like so many westerns, this is packed with action from beginning to end. And the action makes up for the story's rather lean moments, as do some particularly nasty performances from henchmen Van Cleef and Barcroft.
