Joyride Reviews

Arnaz, Carradine, and Griffith are bored Californians who head to the Alaskan pipeline in search of adventure. They soon turn to robbery and take the consenting Lockhart hostage. Although the film shows shades of gravity, it can't escape its exploitative nature, ultimately compromising any serious intentions. The cast is an odd mix of second-generation Hollywood: Arnaz is the son of Desi and Lucy; Carradine, the son of John; Lockhart, the daughter of June; and Griffith, the daughter of Tippi Hedren. Unfortunately, not many of their parents' talents were inherited. Written by Mademoiselle magazine's film critic Rainer, along with Ruben (director of JOYRIDE and the earlier THE POM POM GIRLS)--certainly one of the odder teams in film history.
