It's My Party Reviews

We wish we could think of something nice to say about IT'S MY PARTY, if only because it marks Eric Roberts's return from direct-to-video oblivion. But this tiresome AIDS melodrama, written and directed by Randal Kleiser, is little more than a cross between PETER'S FRIENDS and WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY? -- and it's so tacky and superficial as to make those two wretched pictures look pretty good by comparison. Roberts plays Nick, an HIV-positive gay man who decides to end it all -- but not before throwing a party for his circle of friends, who turn out to be a Whitman's Sampler of neurotic personality types (the too-large cast includes TV comedienne Maragaret Cho and onetime pop star Olivia Newton-John). Glib at best and offensive at worst, it's pure Kleiser.
