It Happened in New Orleans Reviews

Breen, RKO's answer to Shirley Temple, stars in this soaper as a Southern tyke forced to leave his loving mammy, Beavers, and to go to New York when it is discovered that he has relatives up there. Shipped off against his will, Breen soon makes a bad impression on his grandmother, Robson, who decides the kid's no good. To make matters worse, Breen's nasty aunt, Hume, makes the boy's life miserable and subjects him to her bratty kids, who drive him to run away from home. He is caught by kindly butler Butterworth, who convinces Breen he has gotten off on the wrong foot with Robson, and together they talk her into getting rid of Hume and her brood. To ensure little Breen's happiness, Robson even sends for Beavers to come and live with them in New York. Songs include: "Rainbow on the River," "You Only Live Once," "A Thousand Dreams of Love" (Paul Francis Webster, Louis Alter), "Waiting for the Sun to Rise" (Arthur Swanstrom, Karl Hajos), "Flower Song" (Hugo Riesenfeld, Selma Hautzik), "Old Folks at Home," "Camptown Races" (Stephen Foster).
