Hero Tom Wells (Wallace Reid) is dissatisfied with his lot in life. Wondering aloud whether he'd be happier if things were different, he soon gets his chance to find out. The rest of the story is an extension on the old proverb which begins "Be careful what you wish for." As the plot plunges deeper and deeper into melodrama, the film takes on the dimensions of a nightmare -- which, in the very last scene, is just what it turns out to be. On this occasion, Wallace Reid was blessed with two leading ladies: Cleo Ridgely, cast as his wife, and Marjorie Daw, as the fairy princess who gives the hero a glimpse into What Might Have Been.
