Hotel Colonial Reviews

An incredibly bad Italian-American coproduction which wastes a lot of talent on a totally pointless story. Marco Venieri (John Savage) is an Italian living in New York City who learns that his brother--a former Red Brigade terrorist--has committed suicide in Colombia. Venieri goes to Bogota to collect his brother's remains. After viewing the badly decomposed body and looking over the crime scene, Venieri concludes that the dead man was murdered, and, in fact, is not his brother. Venieri traces his brother to the Colombia/Peru border where he is reputed to have become a partner in a powerful drug ring run by Carrasco (Robert Duvall), owner of the Hotel Colonial. This is a disaster as even Duvall, one of the greatest living screen actors, fails to inject any life into this film.
