Gunsight Ridge Reviews

An old story, with Joel McCrea as an undercover agent investigating trouble in the Old West. Outlaw Stevens is also disguised--as a mine owner. Stevens kills the suspicious sheriff, Richards, and McCrea takes over the job. He exposes Stevens and wins Weldon, Richards' daughter, in the process. All routine material, though the dual casting of McCrea and Stevens was unusual. Both had scored much success solo in films and apparently someone decided that the two of them would mean better box office. The photography is really good for this sort of picture, though the simplistic direction really doesn't make the most of the visuals. Dan Blocker makes a brief appearance as a bartender shortly before going on to fame on television's "Bonanza."
