Gun Runner Reviews

Dickerson is a government agent who is pressured by bureau chiefs to put a stop a South American gun-running operation that is supplying weapons to a sect of fanatical Texans. He meets drifter Dolan and, with his help, infiltrates the gang. Masquerading as a sailor, Dolan meets Carbe, a hooker whose boy friend is one the recipients of guns provided by Rico. Eventually Dolan takes a job with Rico, but later discovers his government contact stabbed and near death beneath a pier. Warned that Rico is on to the sting, Dolan helps run the guns ashore, then kills Rico and his gang. After destroying the gun-bearing ship, Dolan returns, exhausted, to the beach, where he discovers Carbe and her boy friend murdered. Dickerson is pleased with Dolan's job and offers him more government work. Sick of it all, Dolan declines and wanders off once more. This less-than-fascinating film was shot by Nestor Almendros (under the pseudonym John Nestor) before he became one of Hollywood's leading cinematographers.
