Gun Brothers Reviews

Former "Flash Gordon" Crabbe is the star in one of his last featured roles. Here he returns home from the cavalry in hopes of joining his brother, Brand, a wealthy rancher. Instead, Crabbe discovers that Brand is really the leader of an outlaw gang that specializes in cattle rustling and stage robbery. Brand mistakenly believes that his brother has informed the sheriff about the shady goings-on, but when henchman Ansara forms his own gang the two brothers join forces to fight them off. In the end, Brand repents for his lawlessness by dying. This is a good combination of acting and action within a formula B-Western. Crabbe and Brand carry their respective roles well and there is a nice bonding between the two of them. A good supporting group of cowboy regulars, including the ever-popular Pickens, rounds out the cast. Direction is fine for the format, keeping things running at a good pace. The action scenes are particularly well done.
