American biographical comedy-drama where the action is set in America in 1962. It is inspired by the true story of the Deep South tour by African American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley and Italian American bouncer Frank Vallelonga, his driver and bodyguard. The film has got the name after The Negro Motorist Green Book, a mid-20th century guidebook for African-American travelers, which lists the few accommodations, restaurants, gas stations, and even doctors in which they are welcome. During the long journey a friendship slowly develops between the two very opposing men, and after the tour's end they spend Christmas Eve at Frank's home with his family.
