Go, Johnny, Go! Reviews

Clanton plays a young orphan taken in by the manic deejay Freed and transformed into rock sensation "Johnny Melody." The hip dialog of the 1950s rock scene plays as great camp today, but there are some terrific performances by some great names here. It's the only film appearance by Valens, who died in a plane crash with Buddy Holly shortly before the film's release. Wilson and Berry also give good performances. Freed himself was the subject of a film biography, AMERICAN HOT WAX, in 1978.
