Fort Massacre Reviews

McCrea shines as a cavalry sergeant leading his troops through Indian territory after his commanding officer is killed in an ambush. Incredibly, he leads them through restricted Apache territory, telling them it is the shortest route to the fort. The men, however, suspect that McCrea is just looking for an excuse to massacre some Indians because his wife and children were slaughtered by Apaches some years before. As feared, the troops are under constant attack and their numbers dwindle. Sensing that McCrea has gone mad, he is finally killed by one of his own men. While the direction and pace is slow, FORT MASSACRE is well worth sitting through due to McCrea's skillful performance.
