Forbidden Trail Reviews

This attempt to inject comedy into a formula western fails abysmally. Buck Jones is ludicrous as a clowning cowboy. But when he reverts to his basic strengths, riding and shooting, he regains his stature. He is pitted against bad guy Wallis Clark's band of outlaws, who commit virtually every misdeed known to B westerns. While subduing his foes, Jones falls in love with sagebrush sweetie Barbara Weeks. Jones was often attacked by critics for his attempts at comedy, but in the end it was the audiences who counted--and they accepted his antics and the bit of gaiety he provided in the dark days of the Depression.
