Destitute showgirl Kirkwood impersonates a nurse hoping to find employment. She is sent to care for Sinclair, a talented but hypochondriacal and alcoholic show-business composer whose outrageous behavior has induced his wife to depart for Majorca. Composer and pseudo-nurse travel to the tuneful island in the hope of effecting a reunion, but the magic and the music of Majorca work their wiles: neurotic Sinclair is rejuvenated, discovering that Kirkwood is his one true love.
