Fifty Million Frenchmen Reviews

Gaxton bets $50,000 he can win the heart of Dell in two weeks without spending a franc. Olsen and Johnson are hired to make sure his plans are foiled. Despite a great cast (many repeating their original Broadway roles) the film is a disappointment. Deciding that musicals were box office poison, Warner Bros. cut out Cole Porter's songs from FIFTY MILLION FRENCHMEN, using them as background music instead. (The songs later appeared in a two-reel short, PAREE, PAREE, featuring Bob Hope.) Be sure to watch for a pre-DRACULA Lugosi as a bearded magician. Cast members Helen Broderick and Lester Crawford are the parents of Broderick (ALL THE KING'S MEN) Crawford.
