Penn is a nice guy with a problem. He's been arrested for a murder committed on a night he cannot remember. Unfortunately all the evidence, including his possession of the bloody knife used in the crime, points directly at him. Armstrong, his policeman buddy, frees Penn and together they piece together what little information they have. It is discovered that Penn has been framed by his uncle (Arnt), who didn't like Penn's dating his ward (Loring). The murder victim had been Arnt's mistress and was blackmailing him. Mad with jealousy over Loring, and eager to get rid of his mistress, Arnt had fixed Penn with a powerful narcotic and created the scene to make Penn look guilty. Arnt is arrested, with Penn and Loring happily reunited.
