Manuel Romero both wrote and directed this above-average star vehicle for Paulina Singerman. The story takes place in a huge Buenos Aires department store, owned by Singerman's father. Discovering that there's unrest amongst the workers, our heroine pseudonymously takes a job as a counter girl (shades of the American comedy The Devil and Miss Jones). Won over to the workers' cause, Singerman leads a strike against her own father -- and of course, saves the day, the week, and the year. Not exactly the most original film to come down the pike, Elvira Fernandez nonetheless fits the star's unique talents like a well-tailored glove.
