Pleasant little comedy starring Armstrong as a fighter who goes to a small southern town to train for a championship match. There he falls in love with local gal Kent, who returns his affections. Unfortunately, Kent's scheming grandmother, Mercer, wants her granddaughter to marry into a higher station in life and tries everything in her power to force a breakup. Kent rises above Mercer's petty complaints and sticks with her boxer. Along with short subjects and a newsreel, DUMBBELLS made for quite an outing at the movie houses of the time.
