Though filmed after the British occupation troops left Palestine, Dream No More is set just before the troops' departure. The film follows the trials and tribulations of Jewish refugee Shlomo Vollmus, played by Avraham Doryon. Finally able to legally emigrate to the Holy Land, Shlomo joins a Jewish settlement and sets about to make himself a vital part of his new community. With the exception of Doryon, the cast is comprised of nonprofessionals, none of whom speak on-camera. For the benefit of E

An oddity produced in Palestine before the British pulled out and the nation was renamed Israel. Doryon handles the lead acting chore admirably as a Jewish refugee who returns to his homeland but is dejected by his lack of laboring skill. He soon takes a regular job and is happy that he is now able to participate in his country's development, however small his contribution may be. Produced without dialogue, DREAM NO MORE is ideal for international distribution, giving the filmmakers an opportunity to show the entire world how the Jews have realized their dream of a national homeland.
