Don't Cry, It's Only Thunder Reviews

An honest, unfairly overlooked film, DON'T CRY, IT'S ONLY THUNDER concerns Dennis Christopher, a cynical, drug-dealing medic in Vietnam, who spends all his time trying to turn a profit. He meets Army doctor Susan Saint James, who tries to get him to assist a group of Vietnamese war orphans, first through guilt and then through blackmail. They are opposed in their efforts, not only by the US government, but also by the continual bombardment of enemy shells. The film gets a bit too dramatic at points, but refuses to reduce its complex situation to easy answers or a tidy denouement. This is one of a handful of movies Christopher appeared in after his fine performance in BREAKING AWAY. In a supporting role is Robert Englund, who would later find fame as Freddy Krueger in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" films.
