This low-budget independent film is based on a novel which could easily have justified a longer picture. Rosqui, a carpenter who has no illusions about life, and Mela, a good-natured girl who believes in the beauty of life, fall in love and marry. A miscarriage leads to a separation. He does not want a divorce, but she leaves him anyway. She hops from one romance to another, each ending in disillusion, and finally returns to Rosqui, who has become sick, and takes care of him. They have a daughter and a fairly normal family life together.
