Executive producer Ivan Tors was an expert at bringing this kind of moppet movie to the screen. His credits include RHINO; FLIPPER; NAMU THE KILLER WHALE; and many more. Dr. Marsh Tracy (Marshall Thompson) is the boss of an African animal behavior center. He falls in love with Julie Harper (Betsy Drake), who studies gorilla life. Dr. Marsh captures a lion that suffers from a cross-eyed condition which prevents him from hunting. His daughter, Paula (Cheryl Miller), names the friendly beast Clarence and treats him like a pet. Conflict arises when rebel troops arrive, determined to poach the wild gorillas for money to buy weapons. Good fun.
