After the Black Plague killed many people in the middle of the Hundred Years War, the hungry peasants of England began protesting in 1381. Historical reenactments and interviews with historians shed further light on this difficult period. This Peasants' Revolt was also known as Wat Tyler's Rebellion since a man by this name led a group that massacred some Flemish merchants and assaulted the palace of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster in London. As the historians note, it's believed that the most immediate cause for the revolt was the imposition of the poll tax. The poor were not alone in their sentiments since many wealthy artisans and others opposed that tax. The film details how the revolt finally came to an end.
