Carnival in Costa Rica Reviews

Typical musical plot concerns two Latin youngsters, Romero and Vera-Ellen, whose marriage has been prearranged by their parents. The kids don't love each other and each has a different mate in mind. Romero falls for nightclub singer Holm, and Vera-Ellen goes after coffee buyer Haymes. Comedic relief is provided by the youngsters' fathers, Naish and Cordoba. The excellent Technicolor photography is put to good use during a lively fiesta sequence wherein Holm sings "Qui Pi Pia" (Al Stillman, Sunny Skylar). Other songs: "I'll Know It's Love," "Another Night Like This," "Mi Vida, Costa Rica," "Rhumba Bomba," "Maracas" (Harry Ruby, Ernesto Lecuona).
