Caravan Reviews

Granger is perfect as a penniless writer who, though in love with the lady of the manor, suffers an attack of amnesia and falls prey to the wiles of a gypsy vamp. Dennis Price's portrayal of Sir Francis, a cringing coward bent on murder when his daughter is spurned, is brilliant, and Jean Kent as the gypsy displays a degree of ardor in her love scenes with Granger amazing to find in an Englishwoman. Strong direction, brilliant individual performances, and production values far above the usual run of British films work beautifully together as one melodramatic situation is piled on another. The British screen has seldom offered in one picture anything more effective than the work of these five principals.
