Captain January Reviews

After Capt. January (Guy Kibbee) rescues young Star (Shirley Temple) during a storm that claims the lives of the little girl's parents, Star moves in with the kindly lighthouse keeper. Life is good for the pair, who are often joined by the captain's jovial friend Capt. Nazro (Slim Summerville). Then one day a truant officer decides that Star is not being brought up properly, and she is shipped off to boarding school. The remainder of the film deals with the Captain's desperate efforts to be reunited with Star. A particularly effective melodrama, which includes Temple and Buddy Ebsen providing a delightful song and dance routine to the tune "At the Codfish Ball."
