Call Me Reviews

A good cast is wasted in this monotonous, would-be-erotic thriller, which exploits the men's-magazine fantasy of a beautiful woman's being excited by obscene phone calls. Set in Brooklyn and lower Manhattan, the film features Charbonneau as a street-smart journalist for an alternative weekly who is stuck in an unfulfilling relationship with self-centered yuppie magazine writer Freed. Charbonneau becomes obsessed with obscene phone calls she receives and is soon involved in a complicated web of sex, drugs, and murder. Although it features a strong cast and some decent direction, CALL ME goes bad in all the wrong places because of a preposterous script--not to mention the premise.
