Buy Me That Town Reviews

Small-time hood Nolan and a few of his crooked pals, frustrated by their inability to make it in the big-city rackets, decide to take over a small town. They pocket "protection money" from fat-cat out-of-towners who pay to be held in the town's slammer to avoid paying heavier debts to society elsewhere. When the lovely Moore starts to charm boss Nolan, his conscience gets the better of him, and he devises a plan to put the collected protection money to use for the benefit of the citizenry. Good-natured souls at heart, Nolan's cronies start to feel a great sense of satisfaction from their charity. Delightful comedy, an early effort by legendary producer Sol Siegel, that honors the small-town warm-hearted spirit of America. Nolan and Moore are entertaining as the romantic couple but Albert Dekker is the real gem of the picture. His depiction of Nolan's dim-witted second-in-command is a minor tour-de-force.
